I thinks it’s time that I address the fact that we as people are weird AF and knit pick any tiny thing…like having a preference on drumsticks and flats when eating chicken wings. Why do we like one more than the other?
Drumsticks and flats both contain the crispy chicken bite that we are looking for when eating wings, so why do we tend to like drumsticks more than we enjoy flats (or vise versa). While enjoying my wings for dinner the other night, I really tried to analyze each wing to come to a conclusion.
Conclusion: In my opinion, drumsticks really aren’t as fun to enjoy. You can’t pull the bones apart and get the flavor out of every crevice like you can with flats! Drumsticks also have this weird tendon/cartilage on the end that if you bite into…it’s just weird and I’d like to avoid biting into whatever it is at all costs! If you have a more valid argument please chime in and let me know your opinion! In the mean time, here’s the kickass recipe I just threw together for some bomb chicken wings you can enjoy during some football tonight. (GO NOLES!)
5 pounds of chicken wings (you can buy these precut, or cut them yourself)
1/2 C Low sodium soy sauce
1/4 TSP sesame oil
3/4 C brown sugar
1 TBS minced garlic
1 TBS minced fresh ginger
3 TBS sweet Thai chili sauce
1/4 C chopped scallions
Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper for seasoning
Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
1. Preheat the oven to 375.
2. Season your wings with salt and pepper.
3. Line a baking sheet with aluminum. Pour glaze over wings and toss them until they’re well coated. Drain any extra sauce from wings.
4. Spread wings on the baking sheet and put in the over for 50-55 minutes, or until the wings are golden and crispy.
